Zaida Freitas is committed to constructing a society that increasingly respects children’s rights

Praia, Dec 12 (Inforpress) – The new president of the Cape Verdean Institute for Children and Adolescents (ICCA), Zaida Freitas, who was sworn in on Tuesday, has pledged to work towards constructing a Cape Verdean society that increasingly respects the rights of children and adolescents.

Speaking at her swearing-in ceremony, Zaida Freitas emphasised that children in Cabo Verde, in fact, deserve special attention, especially with regard to legal protection, and that it is unanimous that the Cape Verdean legal context, in general, has laws that are developed to protect the rights of children and adolescents

Despite this, she highlighted that there are still children and adolescents who are victims of mistreatment and sexual violence, that still live in situations of poverty, at risk and marginalized.

In this regards, she proposed the establishment of a systemic vision to guarantee the full protection of children.
