Mindelo, Jan 21 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean Embassy in the United States of America held on Saturday, in the city of Brockton, the “Party of Democracy and Freedom”, chaired by the Minister of State, Fernando Elísio Freire.
At the party to celebrate January 13 and 20, attended by about 400 people, the minister called on Cabo Verdeans in the Diaspora to “stay focused on the country” so that Cabo Verde can “sustain the gains already achieved since its independence”.
The Minister of State, Parliamentary Affairs and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Sport also asked Cabo Verdeans to do everything so that Cabo Verde can be a developed, sustainable country, and where the people can achieve “many things” . He also highlighted the morna and the role of emigrants in valuing this music.
The Cabo Verdean ambassador to the USA, Carlos Veiga, and the Cabo Verdean consul general, Hermínio Moniz, were present, who spoke about the “Cabo Verde journey and the achievements achieved”, as well as the new mayor of Brockton, Robert Sullivan, who in his speech recognized “the role and value of Cabo Verdeans” in that city.
The event was also attended by the regional leaders of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV) and the Cabo Verdean Independent and Democratic Union (UCID), and MPs, Linda Barros from MpD, César Silva from PAICV.
