TACV workers mark demonstration for Thursday and threaten general strike

Praia, Mar 12 (Inforpress) – TACV workers are demonstrating in Praia on Thursday, 15th, and threaten to call a general strike if the situation does not change in terms of negotiation in the context of the national airline restructuring.

According to the Transport, Telecommunications, Hotel and Tourism Union (Sitthur), the decision came out of a workers’ meeting, held on Saturday, to evaluate the state of TACV’s restructuring processes.

The company’s proposed compensation for termination by mutual agreement, the early retirement program, conditions for the transfer of workers to Sal Island and threats of dismissal were the subjects discussed during the assembly.

In a statement, Sitthur says that during the meeting there was “the existence at the moment of a climate of great discontent and revolt within the workers, because the measures are being taken by the company management, completely ignoring the workers and their representatives”.

“There was also an environment of great pressure, threats and intimidation of workers by the company’s managers, in order to forcefully impose their measures,” said the same source.
