State of Nation: Minister says Cabo Verde today has “better present and more future”

Praia, Jul 30 (Inforpress) – Minister of State and Presidency of the Council of Ministers Fernando Elísio Freire said on Monday that despite all the obstacles it was possible to transform Cabo Verde into a nation with hope in the present and in the future.

At a press conference where he took stock of three years of governance, on the eve of the State of Nation debate, Fernando Elísio Freire said that it was possible to put Cabo Verde on the path of development, job creation, social inclusion and trust, and external credibility.

“In just three years of governance, and despite all the obstacles we face, it has been possible to transform a disappointed nation into a nation with hope for the present and the future. This accountability we make available shows that Cabo Verde has a better present and more future today”, he said. Fernando Elísio Freire spoke of an integrated vision of human development, which he said enabled results never before achieved in terms of social inclusion, protection and promotion of the rights of children and adolescents, guarantees and care for people with disabilities, gender equality, social inclusion of migrants, housing and health.

“We created social inclusion income as well as the productive inclusion program. We have improved access to medicines for the poor and created the social tariff for water and energy that allows thousands of Cabo Verdeans to have a decent living,” he said.
