SIPROFIS acknowledges gains, but says that many teachers still have outstanding issues

Assomada, Apr 23 (Inforpress) – The president of the Teachers’ Union of Santiago (SIPROFIS) today acknowledged that the teaching class demands have been taken care of by the ministry in charge, but says there are still many pending to solve.

Abraão Borges, speaking in statements to Inforpress during the Cabo Verdean Teacher’s Day, pointed out today as an example the allowance for not reducing the workload as one of the acquired rights of teachers and were not being put into practice.

However, he added that the Government, through the Secretary of State for Education, Amadeu Cruz, assured this Monday, 22 that all pending since 2010 will be resolved during 2019.

Asked what the greatest challenge for teachers in Cabo Verde is today, Abraão Borges answered that the “big challenge” is training for pre-school educators, which he considered as a “foundation” for achieving the quality of education in the future.
