São Vicente: “There are difficulties in implementing GBV Victim Support Fund, 10 years after the creation of the law” – Consultant

Mindelo, Oct 1 (Inforpress) – The consultant of “Djunto pa igualdadi” project (Together for equality) said today, in Mindelo, that there are difficulties in effecting the Support Fund for Victims of Gender-Based Violence, ten years after the entry into force of the GBV law.

Dionara dos Anjos was speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the presentation of the results of the Participatory Audit and Draft of the Action Plan/Roadmap of the Djuntu pa Igualdadi Project in São Vicente, organized by the Cabo Verdean Association for combating Gender-Based Violence (ACLCVBG), in partnership with Morabi.

According to the consultant, during the research carried out on the islands to identify the real situation of implementation of the GBV law, it was found that there is still a lack of support structures for victims because of the lack of funding.

The lack of funding could be addressed with the Victim Support Fund, but despite the ten years since the creation of the GBV law, this fund has not yet been implemented, she explained.
