São Vicente: New medical appointments centre will reorganize health care – Health delegate

Mindelo, Jan 15 (Inforpress) – Health delegate in São Vicente, Elísio Silva, believes that the new medical appointments centre being built at the former basketball field in Mindelo will reorganize health care on the island.

For the head of the health sector in the island, the Baptista de Sousa Hospital medical appointments centre is certainly an “asset” and will bring “higher quality” to the sector in the county. “This new space will help reorganize primary, secondary and tertiary health care in São Vicente,” Elísio Silva told Inforpress.

The so-called outpatient center will also serve, according to the same source, to “reduce floods” in emergencies and also avoid movement inside the hospital, where there are people admitted to hospital.

This is because, users of the new infrastructure can have access right there to medical consultations of specialties, minor surgeries, some diagnostic tests, in this space that will serve as a day hospital for oncology and multipurpose, which will also have conference rooms and training, according to information provided by the director of the Baptista de Sousa Hospital, Ana Brito. The outpatient center is funded by the state of Cabo Verde using the Kuwait Fund for about 250 million escudos and for 18 months work.
