Mindelo, Feb 4 (Inforpress) – The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Santos, said, in Mindelo, that housing is one of the island of São Vicente’s “structural problems”, mainly in the peri-urban area, but has been filled with “several programs”.
The head of parliament made this consideration this Monday to the press, following a courtesy visit to the Mayor of São Vicente, Augusto Neves, and carried out to in the first place find out about the activities and investments, mainly in the field of urban rehabilitation, but also with a focus on housing, according to the same source.
“This is one of the structural problems in the city of Mindelo, especially in its peri-urban areas and today several programs are underway, such as Portelinha, the IFH housing development program”, underlined Jorge Santos, for whom there is also a “strong bet” made by the City Hall in this matter.
“This is certainly a fundamental detail, which we also discussed”, said Jorge Santos, adding that the visit also addressed the situation of seafarers, due to the concern presented by Augusto Neves.
On the maritime, Jorge Santos said that a proposal is under discussion in parliament and, “possibly”, this year there will be a legislative initiative to improve conditions.
