São Vicente hosts dengue prevention clean-up campaign on Saturday

Mindelo, Nov 28 (Inforpress) – The Health Centre of São Vicente is holding a clean-up campaign in areas of the island this Saturday, 2 November, in partnership with the city council and other partners with the aim of preventing dengue fever, it was announced today.

In a statement sent to Inforpress, Elísio Silva, the health delegate of São Vicente, explains that this initiative aims to eradicate potential mosquito breeding sites, especially for the prevention of dengue fever.

“The Concern for public health motivates this joint action that seeks to raise awareness in the community about the importance of eliminating breeding sites for the mosquitoes that transmit the disease,” reads the document, which informs that there will be a meeting on Thursday to set out the strategies for the clean-up campaign.

This decision by the Health Centre of São Vicente comes after the Health Delegate of Praia, Ulardina Furtado, reported that the municipality of Praia already has 14 confirmed cases of dengue and 28 suspected cases that are treated as dengue cases to avoid complications.
