São Vicente: Book market have generated their own income and represented an investment – Minister of Culture

Mindelo, Nov 3 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries said today in Mindelo that the book markets held by the National Library have generated their own revenue and represented an investment for the State Budget itself.

Abraão Vicente was speaking to the press this morning when he presided over the opening of the 3rd edition of the book market, part of the celebrations of the National Day of Culture and Communities and the programming of the Mindelo International Theater Festival (Mindelact).

According to the same source, the National Library has been trying to hold, on a permanent basis, book market in partnership with municipal councils, including, as I said, this year they managed to reach almost all municipalities.

“With the main objective of having the book at a low cost, continuing to sell books that we have had in stock for many years and renewing the book stock”, explained the minister, adding that a project is being created in partnership with the Ministry of Culture of Portugal and the Camões Institute so that, next year, there will be a “big book market”, with news from the last two years in the Portuguese language market.
