São Toméan government official considers that there is “good integration” of the Cape Verdean community in São Tomé.

Praia, Jan 24 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Justice, Administration and Human Rights of São Tomé and Príncipe, Ilza Amado Vaz, said today that there is “good integration” of the Cape Verdean community in her country thanks to cooperation between the governments.

In an interview to Inforpress, Ilza Amado Vaz guaranteed that Cape Verdeans in São Tomé and Príncipe have the same opportunities and the same treatment as the São Toméan people, explaining that there has been a “very strong” integration process, with the naturalisation process so that they have access to social services and the same opportunities as the São Toméan people.

“”The government of São Tomé and Príncipe has collaborated with the government of Cabo  Verde, particularly with the Ministry of Communities, in order to allow access to Cape Verdean nationality for those who were born of Cape Verdean descent and did not have the opportunity to nationalise as Cape Verdeans,” she said.

According to São Tomé and Príncipe’s Minister of Justice, Administration and Human Rights, this is proof that every “effort” has been made to make Cape Verdeans feel as good as if they were in Cabo Verde.
