Santo Antão: Mayor calls for reinforcement of environmental policy measures so that the island can continue as a tourist destination

Cidade das Pombas, Paul, 17 Jan (Inforpress) – The president of the Association of Municipalities of Santo Antão, António Aleixo, today defended the need to reinforce environmental policy measures so that Santo Antão continues to be a tourist destination.

“We need to defend the ecological balance and protect biodiversity, so that we can maintain the beauty of this island and make it more attractive and welcoming, if we really want Santo Antão to be a tourist destination”, he highlighted.

António Aleixo, who was speaking at the solemn session of the Santo Antão Day celebrations, which this time was celebrated in the municipality of Paul, also defended that the preservation of the environment is “important” to guarantee the availability of natural resources.

According to the president of the Association of Municipalities of Santo Antão, natural resources, in addition to supporting society, also contribute to climate regulation, air and water quality, as well as the prevention of natural disasters.
