Santo Antão: Fishermen’s Association of Tarrafal de Monte Trigo concerned about unemployment affecting 80% of this working class

Porto Novo, Apr 17 (Inforpress) – Unemployment continues to affect “the vast majority” of fishermen in Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, a situation that concerns the class association, which is looking for partners to find ways to mitigate the problem.

According to this association, unemployment continues to affect around 80 percent (%) of fishermen in Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, a phenomenon results from the fact that the number of boats in this fishing community is insufficient to employ all fishermen.

To mitigate the situation, the fishermen’s association from that location, according to its representative, Isaías Pires, has been looking for a partnership with the Government and other institutions with a view to purchase a fishing boat.

Isaías Pires, president of this association, insists, therefore, on the need for the Government to support the institution to purchase a boat that can employ part of these fishermen and alleviate unemployment within this working class.
