RMPCV, ICIEG and UN Women join forces to draft the law on parity

Praia, Mar 12 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean Parliamentary Women Network (RMPCV), the Cabo Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG) and UN-Women have today joined forces to draft the law on parity.

To this end, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the RMPCV, represented by its President Lúcia Passos, ICIEG by President Rosana Almeida and UN Women represented by Vanilde Furtado.

This memorandum, which aims to implement the Advocacy Action Plan of the Law on Parity, budgeted at 34 million escudos, and according to the president of the network, Lúcia Passos, is an “ambitious plan that goes beyond the national sphere.”

“This month, we will hire the consultants who will prepare the draft law, and the synergies, will also, in addition to drafting the bill, but also in terms of resource mobilization, because the Advocacy plan costs 34 million escudos,” she said.

For this work, she informed will involve the Diaspora in this project, will collect the experience and legislation from other countries that already have experience in this matter, and will still exchange experiences with similar networks.
