Mindelo, Jan 8 (Inforpress) – The Public Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the opening of an investigation to investigate the circumstances of the death of the three children in a tin house fire in the early hours of January 1, in the area of Pedra Rolada, São Vicente.
In a statement, the Public Prosecutor’s Office said it ordered the opening of the investigation following the news reported in the media, reporting a fire that occurred in the neighborhood of Pedra Rolada, in the island of São Vicente, at dawn on January 1, 2020, killing three children and injuring two more children and two adults.
“These are facts that may, for the time being, be part of the crimes of negligent homicide and negligent physical integrity offenses punished under national criminal law,” read the document published on the institution’s website.
In the case file, according to the same source, which is in secrecy of justice, the The Public Prosecutor’s Office is assisted by the Judiciary Police, and the respective delegation of competence to carry out investigative proceedings has already taken place. From the fire, which was caused by an explosion of a gas bottle, three cousins, 3, 4 and 5 years died burned and were buried early on Thursday morning, 1, in São Vicente cemetery.
