Porto Novo/FNJ: United Nations Coordinator says it is “urgent” to invest in young people to face current challenges

Porto Novo, 04 Dec (Inforpress) – The resident coordinator of the United Nations System in Cabo Verde, Patrícia de Sousa, said this Monday, in Santo Antão, that it is “urgent” to invest in young Cape Verdeans to be able to face the challenges the world faces.

Patrícia de Sousa, who spoke at the opening of the fourth National Youth Forum, which takes place in the municipality of Porto Novo, explained that “the world is going through many challenges and changes”, such as technological progress, environmental risks, conflicts, which are imposing “transformations in the way of being in the world, in the labour market and in economies”.

“Therefore, it is urgent to invest even more in young people”, said the resident coordinator of the United Nations in Cabo Verde, for whom it is necessary for young people to “successfully” complete their studies, have access to professional training and be equipped with “tools innovations and knowledge adapted to the new era”.

In this regard, the United Nations System in Cabo Verde, the organisation that funds the National Youth Forum, has been a partner of the government “in the search for solutions to the problems” facing young Cape Verdeans, said the diplomat.
