Pedro Pires expects Guineans to create conditions for “stability and progress” in the country

Praia, Jan 7 (Inforpress) – Commander Pedro Pires says he hopes that if Guinea-Bissau gets into trouble, Guineans will know how to solve it and create the conditions for the country’s stability and progress.

The former president of the Republic of Cabo Verde made this point when asked by journalists about the election of Umaro Sissoco Embaló as president of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, during a press conference of the Amílcar Cabral Foundation to publicize the commemorative activities of January 20, National Heroes Day.

For Pires, Guinea-Bissau’s fate must lie in the hands of the Guineans, and it is the responsibility of the people, institutions and parties to decide to work to secure the “best future” for this country.

“Personally I will not go into consideration, but I can tell you that I follow the events of Guinea very carefully and it touches me a little and I follow very carefully, but I am not going beyond that. It’s Guineans responsibility to solve the problems that arise”, he underlined.

If there are problems, he says he expects them to be resolved in peace and Guineans will create the conditions for stability and progress.
