Praia, Jan 24 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries said that the Government intends to know, protect and value the growth of material and immaterial goods with the new law of the legal regime for the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage.
Abraão Vicente made these considerations this Thursday, in the National Assembly during the presentation of the proposed law that approves the legal regime for the protection and enhancement of Cultural Heritage.
Law 102 / III / 90 of December 29, which aims at the preservation, defense and enhancement of Cabo Verdean cultural heritage, was drawn up within the framework of the 1980 Constitution, a version resulting from the third constitutional review that took place in 1990.
After 30 years, he stressed, several international conventions were approved by the State and came into force in the domestic legal system, there is a need to revise this law that does not regulate important sectors of cultural heritage, namely religious heritage, military heritage, archival heritage and musical heritage, audiovisual, photographic and phonographic heritage. The law, according to the minister, also omits the “important role” of libraries and archives in safeguarding cultural heritage.
