PAICV demands from the Government the legal and effective guarantee of the rights of persons with disabilities

Praia, July 11 (Inforpress) – PAICV president Janira Hopffer Almada demanded Wednesday the “legal and effective” guarantee of the rights of people with disabilities, pointing to health, housing, education and mobility as priority inclusion factors.

Janira Hopffer was speaking to Inforpress, in the margins of her visit to the Association for the Visually Impaired People of Cabo Verde (ADEVIC), Handicap (Social Institution), to learn about the concerns of these entities in the preparation of the debate on the State of the Nation.

She began by saying that Cabo Verde ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2011, and therefore “it is important” to take stock of the implementation of the recommendations on this issue.

On the other hand, she added that in Cabo Verde an issue that needs to be dealt with in a much more serious way, with the necessary priority, has to do with ensuring not only legal but effective guarantee of the rights of persons with disabilities to health, education, housing and even physical spaces.
