North Santiago: Santa Cruz Health Department with Room for Integrated Responses to Dependencies

Pedra Badejo, Mar 20 (Inforpress) – The Santa Cruz Health Department already has an Integrated Response Room (ERID) equipped with computer equipment and furniture to combat the consumption of alcohol and other drugs in the municipality.

ERID is a pilot project on community-based dependency management that has been in place since 2015 by the Government in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

For the Santa Cruz health delegate, Cláudia Silva, the space now open “was missing” in this county, where, according to her, the issue of alcoholism and dependence on other drugs has been “a matter of concern”.

As she said, now with a space of this kind in the municipality, many of the people with facilities that once sought help in other counties, especially Praia, will receive treatment in their own community.
