New drug programme in Cabo Verde represents a response to priority challenges – UNODC

Praia, Jul 11 (Inforpress) – The UNODC regional representative Chantal Lacroix said Wednesday in Praia that the National Integrated Programme  to Combat Drugs and Related Crimes in Cabo Verde (PNLCDCC 2018-2023) represents a response to the current top priorities.

This official, who is in Praia participating in the thematic meeting on the mobilization of partnerships for the operationalization of this programme, said that it is in line with the UNODC regional programme for West Africa and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and also represents a substantial contribution for the promotion of health and well-being and for SDG16 on peace and justice.

Chantal Lacroix, on the other hand, highlighted the “important” progress made by the Government of Cabo Verde in combating transnational organized crime by strengthening the capacities of law enforcement agencies, the legal framework and international judicial cooperation.

“This has been done with the support of the United Nations and the entire international community,” she said.
