National director of health proposes focussed actions and closer policies to promote healthy ageing

Praia, Nov 21 (Inforpress) – The national director of Health, Ângela Gomes, today defended the need to focus on implementing targeted actions and tightening policies to ensure a better quality of life for the elderly in Cabo Verde.

She made these statements to the press on the sidelines of the socialisation and validation workshop for the new PENEASPI for 2024-2028, which took place today and this Wednesday. She said that the workshop came about after it was realised that there was a need to update the strategic plan for active ageing of the elderly.

“We felt the need to update it, given the new challenges and the profile of our population, which is increasingly becoming a population characterised as elderly, over 65, according to our national statute for the elderly,” she said.

As she explained, this is a strategic plan that guides macro policies for the elderly and it will have its own activity plan with its own budget, which will have to be mobilised with partners.
