Macaronesian poets gathered in the city of Praia to debate poetry and call for world peace

Praia City, 13 Nov (Inforpress) – Four dozen poets from Cabo Verde, Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands are gathered in Praia, at the VI Macaronesian International Poetry Meeting, to debate, for four days, poetry and appeal for peace in the world.

According to the organizer of the event, the poet Vera Duarte, this meeting, which had the inaugural conference under the theme “Cabo Verde and the Azores, circulating voices: Jorge Barbosa, Pedro da Silveira, Urbano Bettencourt”, will feature 28 interventions on the poetry, which will later be collected in a book and a magazine by the Cape Verdean Academy of Letters and a video with everything that was portrayed at the event.

“This information captured at this meeting can be used for studies, in schools, universities, meetings, in order to make poetry reach more people, countries and peoples”, she stated.

The poetry festival on the islands of Morabeza, according to this official, will also serve to appeal for peace, especially to those countries that are at war and congratulates the work of the United Nations in favor of the help it has given to these people.
