Luís Filipe Tavares meets with Japanese counterpart at the 7th Tokyo International Conference for Africa’s Development

Praia, Aug 29 (Inforpress) – Foreign Minister Luis Filipe Tavares met his Japanese counterpart Taro Kano during a welcome dinner hosted by the head of Japanese diplomacy to African foreign ministers present in Yokohama.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders seized the moment to talk about the cooperation and friendship relations between the two countries and also about the possibility of Taro Kono visiting Cabo Verde before the end of this year or in the middle of next year.

According to the document, TICAD is probably one of the largest multi-bilateral cooperation conferences with Africa, and Cabo Verde was present in all six editions, demonstrating a strong commitment to achieving and broadening existing cooperation intentions.

The same source also points out that, with Japan, Cabo Verde has benefited from “generous cooperation”, having as its main modalities technical cooperation including food aid, short and long term training (internships and postgraduate) in the Japan, aid for cooperation projects, especially fishing ports, support for fishing equipment, agriculture and water supply.
