Land registry on Santiago Island starts in March 2024 and is budgeted at 400 000 escudos – minister

Praia, Nov 14 (Inforpress) – The land registry on Santiago Island, due to start in March 2024, is budgeted at 400,000 escudos and is part of the harmonisation of West African statistics project of the National Institute of Statistics (INE), financed by the World Bank.

The information was released this Tuesday, in the City of Praia, by the Minister of Infrastructure, Territorial Planning and Housing, in statements to the press, on the sidelines of the preparation meeting for the land registry project on Santiago Island.

Eunice Silva warned that this amount may not be enough, since much more complicated situations can be found on the ground, explaining why the value may be a function of the property survey.

“We are estimating 250,000 buildings, but when we go to the ground we can find 400,000. Then, depending on what we can raise, will we be able to do it with this amount or if we have to find an increase to be able to do it in full”, explained the minister, remembering that the other islands are waiting.
