Inforpress Agency joins forces with the National Archives to create its Documentation Centre

Praia, 31 Oct (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean News Agency (Inforpress) and the Cabo Verde National Archives Institute today signed a protocol for the creation of the Agency’s Documentation Center, to make its collection available, which dates back to 1974.

After the signing act, in the City of Praia, the sole administrator of Inforpress, Hamilton Jair Fernandes, stated that the news agency has in its possession a photographic and documentary collection that is “extremely important” from the historical and identity point of view of the institution and of the country, and which are in a state of degradation.

Hence, according to the same source, the idea of capitalizing on the Inforpress archive as a business niche arises.

“(…) We’re not just looking at the archive here at Inforpress in a preservationist sense, but also why not create an ecosystem here that can enable the sustainability of the agency, and there’s nothing better than teaming up with a great partner who knows how to do and work in document preservation, and beyond,” he explained.
