Handball: Handball national team still waiting for goalkeeper Lenine

Praia, Jan 15 (Inforpress) – The handball national team of Cabo Verde is still waiting for goalkeeper Lenine, who is stuck in Praia for lack of a visa to Portugal, to join the national team at the preparation stage in Rio Maior.

On the eve of his departure for Tunisia, the venue for the African Cup of Nations games, CAN 2020, Desportivo da Praia goalkeeper Josimar Tavares, better known as “Lenine”, is still waiting for coach José Tomás, with whom he never worked, to represent national colors.

Luís Almeida (CDE Camões, Portugal) and Élcio Fernandes (Juve Desportiva, Portugal) are the other goalkeepers with whom the coaching staff has been working in training at Portuguese soil. The preparation stage in Portugal, which has been running since 6th, ends this Tuesday, so the Cabo Verdean squad is expected to leave today for its first ever participation in a final phase of this biggest showcase of African handball.

Recently hired to lead the national team of Cabo Verde, the Portuguese coach has been regretting the fact that he faces difficulties in gathering the entire training group in Portugal, although he has been praising the enthusiasm, attitude and performance of the squad for this African mission.
