Fogo: Vitó Project defends creation of protected area in the north zone to ensure protection of species – Herculano Dinis

São Filipe, Jul 31 (Inforpress) – The “Conservation and sustainable use of resources” Vitó Project advocates the creation of a protected area in the northern part of the island to protect species identified in the region, said the project’s executive director.

The Vitó Project is, according to Herculano Dinis, a non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been developing a set of conservation work.

At the moment, according to the same source, four projects are in progress, it is in the phase of collection of natural resources existing in the northern zone and the idea is to elaborate a proposal to create another protected area, if not a Natural Park, at least which is of different categories, but which ensures protection of the species in these areas.

The boundary of the new protected area at the top would be one thousand meters high and would extend from the beaches of Pesqueiro, before the Ponta Verde (São Filipe) area to Fajãzinha (Mosteiros), this because explains the Executive Director of the Vitó Project, the boundary of the Fogo Natural Park (PNF) in the northern and Bordeira areas starts from 1800 meters in altitude and the survey that is being done is in the lower part, up to a thousand meters altitude.
