“Every citizen with a bank account is the Government’s goal to combat informality” – Minister

Praia, May 24 (Inforpress) – The government hopes to every Cabo Verde citizen to have a bank account and everyone pay the taxes, so that everyone pays less, in a formalized economy, a target presented this Thursday by the Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

Olavo Correia, who spoke to journalists after presiding over the round table opening held at the international symposium in the City of Praia, under the theme “For a solidary, ethical and socially responsible financial system”, stated that it is time of ending “the poor man’s speech” in Cabo Verde.

“Everyone has to participate in the system and everyone must be in the formalized system because information is essential”, he said, so that the State can “design assertive public policies”, he continued, and all information to manage financing policy, fiscal policy and be able to act accordingly.

Olavo Correia stressed that all Cabo Verdean citizens, regardless of their financial condition, require education, health, safety, transportation and social housing, but recalled that for the State to provide these services it needs financial resources.
