European Union provides 55 million escudos for cartographic updating and census

Praia, May 24 (Inforpress) – About 55 million escudos is the amount that the European Union (EU) made available to the National Statistics Institute (INE) for the cartographic updating and census work, the president of INE, Osvaldo Borges, said Thursday.

The official of the National Institute of Statistics (INE) spoke to the press shortly before presiding over the official launching ceremony of the EU grant and the closing of the training curse for cartographic agents who will participate in the georeferencing and characterization process of the census.

“We see that there are aspects that must be very well achieved, and one of the priorities of the country is the general population census. In this first phase we had the he European Union support with the amount of 500 thousand euros for the works of Cartographic Update and Census”, he revealed, indicating that in this phase will be made georeferencing of all existing public and private collective equipment in Cabo Verde.

According to Osvaldo Borges, this process will make the inventory and characterization of all the buildings and lodgings of the country, guarantee the dimensioning of the logistic support in human resources necessary for the General Census of Population and Housing (RGPH) 2020.
