Emprofac is supplied by 75% from outside suppliers – Gil Évora

Mindelo, Dec 13 (Inforpress) – The chairman of the board of directors of the National Pharmaceuticals Company (Emprofac) said the company is supplied by 75 percent (%) of medicines from outside suppliers and 25 percent by the Inpharma laboratory.

Gil Évora was speaking to the press Thursday, on the fringes of Emprofac’s annual meeting with responsible for the Barlavento pharmacies held in São Vicente.

According to the official, Emprofac works with 8000 types of medicines, but most of them come from abroad, especially from Portugal, which is the main supplier, and from Brazil.

At this time, according to Gil Évora, the company continues to manage the stockout of medicines, especially antihypertensive drugs, with a mitigation plan created in the second half of 2019.

The stock shortage that affected Cabo Verde, he explained, was due to supply problems and shortages of raw materials in Europe and caused regulators to prevent exports, which eventually affected Cabo Verde.
