“Cyber ​​crime has increased exponentially worldwide and Cabo Verde is no exception” – ARME PCA

Praia, Feb 12 (Inforpress) – The chairman of the board of directors (PCA) of the Multisectoral Regulatory Agency for the Economy (ARME) said that cyber crimes have increased exponentially worldwide, noting that Cabo Verde is no exception.

Isaías Barreto da Rosa, who spoke to Inforpress this Tuesday, in Praia, about the Safer Internet Day, which is celebrated on February 11, said that there is no statistical data on the numbers of cyber attacks in the country, but defended the reinforcement of combat strategies, focusing on international partnerships.

“Cabo Verde, like all countries, has challenges related to cyber security and the fight against cybercrime. In 2015, the world lost about three trillion dollars due to the problem of cyber security and cybercrime,” he demonstrated, indicating that estimates for 2021 point to a loss of around “six trillion dollars”.

According to him, the problems related to cyber security are today the main threats to companies worldwide.
