CPLP welcomes convocation of the forthcoming presidential elections in Guinea-Bissau

Praia, Jun 25 (Inforpress) – The CPLP welcomed the decision by the President of Guinea-Bissau to convene the next presidential elections to 24 November 2019, which will conclude an electoral cycle, ensuring “the necessary democratic stability and governance” in Guinea-Bissau.

According to an Information Note issued by the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), this is a statement by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Relations of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), given the current political situation in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.

The CPLP reaffirmed its commitment and effort to support, in close coordination with the other international partners, the future government of Guinea Bissau in mobilizing the necessary resources to face the pressing challenges facing the country in its “fair and legitimate” in search of the path of economic and social development.

The parliamentary elections in Guinea-Bissau were held on March 10, but the President, José Mário Vaz, only last Friday began to listen to the parties to nominate the prime minister and consequent appointment of the Government.
