COVID-19 / Santo Antão: Municipalities plan to provide food aid to 3.650 families across the island

Porto Novo, Apr 16 (Inforpress) – The municipalities of Santo Antão hope to bring food aid to close to 3.650 families, a measure aims to ease the difficulties resulting from the restrictions imposed by the state of emergency to contain the spread of the new coronovirus.

In Porto Novo, the City Hall’s goal is to reach 1.500 families, while in the municipality of Paul the number of families supported through the City Hall with foodstuffs exceeds 540 households.

In Ribeira Grande, the City Hall announced support for 1.600 families with food aid, support that has already reached at least 50 percent (%) of the beneficiaries, who were chosen from among those enrolled in the Single Social Registry.

In addition to food aid, families in situations of greater vulnerability will also receive solidarity income and social inclusion income, which is the Government’s responsibility.
