COVID-19 / Boa Vista: “People have to stay on the island to avoid other risks” – Prime Minister

Sal Rei, Apr 17 (Inforpress) – The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, said that people have to stay in Boa Vista, as well as in the other islands, as inter-island travel at this time would be “a great risk”.

The Prime Minister made this statement after a meeting, this Thursday, in Boa Vista Island, which was attended by the Civil Protection System, which includes the security forces and institutions linked to Health.

The Prime Minister answered about the situation that is currently occurring, taking into account the large number of people who daily ask to leave the Boa Vista Island.

According to Ulisses Correia e Silva, if theoretically, at the beginning, it is not known who is infected or not, then it will be necessary to stay at islands to facilitate the control of the disease.

“It is for this same reason that we close the external borders, the fewer entrance or leaving Cabo Verde means more control we will have on the disease”, said the Prime Minister, who recalled that it will also solve another situation, strengthening the social action part, with the verification and identification of people in need due to the difficulties created by restrictions related to COVID-19, namely in the economy and family income.
