COVID-19 / Boa Vista: PAICV calls for “under no circumstances to blame hotel workers”

Praia, Apr 17 (Inforpress) – The African Party of Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV, opposition party) called on Thursday to “under no circumstances” be “blamed and stigmatized the workers” from  the hotels in Boa Vista Island who were confined for 25 days.

In a press conference, the PAICV’s president, Janira Hopffer Almada, stated that these workers were relying “without the conditions of individual protection and isolation, and without adequate monitoring by the authorities, in the appropriate manner”, for 25 days.

“It is up to us, first of all, to express our solidarity with the Boa Vista Island and its residents, addressing a message of comfort to all whose tests have been positive”, said the party leader, adding that the PAICV is ready to collaborate and help “in whatever is necessary and convenient” to be able to overcome “the gigantic challenge” the country faces.

According to Janira Almada, PAICV understands that it is necessary to do a job to identify “all the mistakes and failures committed” from the beginning and “they are serious” in the management of this dossier.
