Coronavirus: Students in Wuhan refute Cabo Verde Government’s justifications for refusing to evacuate

Praia, Feb 6 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verdean students based in Wuhan (China), the epicenter of the new coronavirus, said in a letter sent to the authorities that they have seen several statements that contradict what was used as a justification to refuse the evacuation.

The statement appears in a letter sent to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luís Filipe Tavares, to the Ambassador of Cabo Verde in China, Tânia Romualdo, and to other entities, which Inforpress had access to today.

This concern comes after the government has ruled out the possibility of evacuating Cabo Verdean students who are in Wuhan, as such a move would go against the guidelines of the authorities of the People’s Republic of China and the World Health Organization, indicating that they are evaluate all scenarios.

The Government’s position was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luís Filipe Tavares, at a press conference in Praia, scheduled to talk about the situation of students in China, given the spread of the Coronavirus that has killed 491 people to date, in many countries.
