Copyright / Related Rights: SCM adapts the statute to the law that regulates the organization and operation of collective management entities

Praia, Feb 10 (Inforpress) – The governing bodies of the Cabo Verdean Music Society (SCM) are together in an extraordinary meeting to update its statute, taking into account the law that regulates the collective management entities of the right to copyright and related rights.

In a press conference, SCM’s president, Solange Cesarovna, said that they are analyzing all the updates that must be carried out in the statute, in order to comply with the requirements and to be “in full compliance” with Law No. 45 / IX / 2019 which entered into force on February 14, 2019.

The idea is to adapt the statute to the “best practices” required at national and international levels and to follow the guidelines of the International Confederation of Authors and Composers’ Societies (CISAC), with which it has a partnership.

These updates, she pointed out, will be made in different areas, such as, the obligation to be included in the statute, the territorial scope of the defense of the author’s rights.
