CNDHC will create working group to review recommendations from international community

Praia, Jul 30 (Inforpress) – The chairwoman of the National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship (CNDHC) announced Monday that she will set up a working group to review all recommendations made by the international community and set priorities.

Zaida de Freitas made this announcement to the press, in Praia, following the 46th plenary session to analyze the 2nd National Human Rights Report (2010-2018) and the CNDHC Parallel Report, submitted to the United Nations Committee on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

As he said, in recent years the country has submitted a set of reports to UN treaty bodies, UN special mechanisms and, since last year, the country has been receiving a set of recommendations from the international community. In her view, the State is not able to implement all recommendations, so, aware of its role as a supervisory body for the implementation of recommendations, will, together with the Commissioners, reflect what are the “highest priorities”.

“The State is not able to make all the recommendations, but the intention is to reflect those that are actually a priority, and from there the commission will prepare a document for the Government to plan some recommendations that should be implemented with greater urgency” she informed. As she said, this working group will reflect on the recommendations so that by the end of the year you can take a stand on these various recommendations and thus have “some answers” from the Government.
