City of Praia will house a square and municipal center in honor of Amílcar Cabral

Praia, Jan 26 (Inforpress) – The City Council of Praia announced today its program to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Amílcar Cabral, which includes the construction of a square and a municipal center in honor of Amílcar Cabral.

The announcement was made by the Mayor of Praia, Francisco Carvalho, at a press conference to publicly present the list of events alluding to the anniversary, which will take place throughout 2024, the centenary year of Amílcar Cabral, hero of the fight to liberate Cabo Verde and Guinea Bissau.

“As the city council and the capital of Cabo Verde, we have to give a signal at this time that Cabral is fundamental, unavoidable, which is why we created a program with a municipal dimension,” he said, stressing that if they were the government of the Republic, they would do other things.

The program, as mentioned, consists of initiatives designed to endure over time and space, fundamentally contributing to the dissemination of Amílcar Cabral.
