CAN’2024 in Handball: Cabo Verde begins preparation for Egypt in Portugal today

City of Praia, 26 Dec (Inforpress) – The Cape Verdean senior men’s handball team, runner-up in Africa, is concentrated today, in Portugal, with the 20 pre-selected by coach Jorge Rito, for the preparation stage for CAN’2024, to be played in Egypt.

With clear objectives of positioning itself among the top three places, Cabo Verde, according to the technical director of the national federation of the sport, Alberto Correia e Silva, will begin this stage which should run from the 26th to the 30th of this month, to be interrupted at the end of the year in order to be resumed from the 3rd of January until the 16th of this year.

The training camp for the 26th edition of the CAN will include the 20 pre-selected athletes, with a view to definitively choosing the 17 who will represent the country at the event in Cairo, Egypt, from 17 to 27 October.

According to Correia e Silva, the Cape Verdean Handball Federation is working hard to ensure that the team runs smoothly, and has practically all the financial conditions in place for the men’s team to take part in the biggest event on the African continent.
