Cabo Verde receives international recognition for human rights

Praia, Nov 8 (Inforpress) – This tuesday, Cabo Verde received international recognition, during the presentation of the National Report on Human Rights, as part of the 44th session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Minister of Justice, Joana Rosa, who presented this Report in Switzerland, highlighted the country’s commitment to promoting, respecting and strengthening the democratic rule of law and the country’s fundamental freedoms.

“The Government Program of the X Legislature assumes the promotion, respect and guarantee of human rights as a transversal reference to all sectors of governance, and Cabo Verde has dedicated special attention to human rights, making a firm commitment to promoting them, respect and reinforce the rule of democratic law and fundamental freedom of its people”, she stated.

In this context, she said that the country intends to announce its candidacy for membership of the Human Rights Council for the period 2025-2027.
