Cabo Verde and Senegal share experiences of electronic data collection and technical and methodological progress

Praia, Jan 29 (Inforpress) – Representatives from Cabo Verde and Senegal are taking part in a five-day seminar in Praia to promote the project ” Centers of Reference in Censuses with Electronic Data Collection in Africa – Phase II”.

The aim of the meeting is to share experiences, the technical and methodological progress made by Cape Verde and Senegal, and their innovations in electronic data collection.

During the seminar, the invited institutes will be presented with the technical and methodological advances incorporated by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the National Statistics and Demographic Agency of Senegal (ANSD) and the National Institute of Statistics of Cabo Verde (INE) in their respective census operations, as well as identifying potential partner countries for the project.

According to the representative of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), João Clementino, this work has been underway since 2016 and aims to share with Senegal and Cabo Verde the methodologies of reference centers, electronic data collection for censuses, thus creating a reference center on the African continent, focusing on the use of new digital technologies in data collection for statistical production.
