Brava: Group of young people begins training on leather arts to add value to local products

Nova Sintra, Oct 6 (Inforpress) – A group of 21 young people began Tuesday a training couse on “Productive technique of leather arts” in order to take the local materials and turn them into useful and valuable pieces.

To Inforpress, the Councilwoman responsible for the area of   Culture, Edna Oliveira, reported that this training course, taught by  artisan Beto Diogo, arose from a project included in the City Hall of Brava plan of activities,  funded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Thus, she added that the project had been prepared for some time, but it lacked funding and today it has already started with a number of enrollees above the limit established by the project that was 18 trainees.

Funded by  UNDP, in the amount of 500 thousand escudos, Edna Oliveira reported that there are still two aspects of training to be taught within this same project, reinforcing that both have as main objective to take advantage of existing products on the island to “transform into art”.
