ATD-CV promotes open conversation to commemorate International Domestic Workers Day

Praia, Jul 23 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean Domestic Workers Association promotes an open conversation and an afternoon meeting with workers on Wednesday, 24th, to celebrate the International Domestic Workers Day and raise awareness about the importance of the class valuation.

Speaking to Inforpress, as part of the International Domestic Workers Day, observed on July 22, the president of the Cabo Verdean Domestic Workers Association (ATD-CV), Maria Gonçalves, stressed the importance of celebrating the date internationally, and the domestic workers valuation. In his view, the creation of the symbolic date serves to remind society of the value of domestic service and to appeal to the class itself about the need to fight for their rights and fulfill their duties.

“We want to celebrate this day with open conversation in partnership with the First Lady on the 24th and have an afternoon of conviviality with domestic workers. This open conversation aims to continue our awareness raising about the rights and duties of Cabo Verdean domestic workers,” she said.
